[:es]Tras la última reunión de Comité Ejecutivo realizada vía Skype, el Secretario General de FISU América, Sandy Rodriguez, sorpresivamente murió este martes 18 de diciembre tras sufrir un infarto. La triste noticia fue comunicada por la familia al presidente de la organización, Alim Maluf Neto, en la mañana de hoy.
“Queridos amigos, recibí una trágica noticia. La esposa de Sandy llamó diciendo que nuestro querido hermano sufrió un infarto fulminante y acaba de fallecer. Estoy devastado. Perdemos a un amigo y excelente profesional. Mis oraciones y condolencias para su familia”, comunicó Alim Neto.
Los mensajes de desazón en los representantes de las federaciones nacionales se repitieron en mensajes personales, comunicaciones telefónicas y manifestaciones en las redes sociales. Estudiantes atletas y voluntarios universitarios también se expresaron en su memoria.
Sandy Rodriguez fue presidente de la Federación Venezolana Deportiva de Educación Universitaria (FEVEDEU), y en su gestión su país volvió a tomar protagonismo en FISU, participando en la Universiada Gwangju 2015 con la delegación más grande en la historia de su país. También fue profesor de la Universidad Bolivariana de Venezuela y fundador de la Liga Central Universitaria, proyecto que expuso en noviembre último en el Foro FISU América. Además, prestaba su apoyo a la Dirección Técnica de la Federacion Venezolana Polideportiva de Sordos.
Será recordado por su bondad, humildad, sabiduría, el buen humor que siempre lo caraterizó y la permanente lucha por el crecimiento del deporte universitario en el continente.

After the last Executive Committee meeting held via Skype, the Secretary General of FISU America, Sandy Rodriguez, surprisingly died this Tuesday after suffering a heart attack. The sad news was communicated by the family to the president of the organization, Alim Maluf Neto, today on the morning.
“Dear friends. I received a tragic news. Sandy’s wife called, saying that our beloved brother suffered a sudden heart attack and has just died. I am devastated, we lose a friend and an excellent professional, my prayers and condolences to his family,” Alim Neto said.
The messages of dismay from representatives of national federations were repeated in personal messages, telephone communications and demonstrations on social networks. Student athletes and university volunteers also expressed themselves in his memory.
Sandy Rodriguez was president of the Venezuelan Sports Federation of University Education (FEVEDEU), and in his management his country took stage again in FISU, participating in Gwangju 2015 Universiade with the largest delegation in the history of his country. He was also a professor at the Bolivarian University of Venezuela and founder of the Central University League, a project he presented last November at FISU America Forum. In addition, he lent its support to the Technical Directorate of the Venezuelan Sports Federation of the Deaf.
He will be remembered for his kindness, humility, wisdom, the good humor that always characterized him and the permanent struggle for the growth of university sport in the continent.[:]
