[:en]The first FISU America Games left an enormous experience for the 1,500 student-athletes who participated in the competition, and for the authorities of the 13 participating countries, who, united by FISU America, achieved a competition with probably the best logistic, sporting and participative level of the university sport’s history on the continent. In addition, this edition was historic not only for being the first, but for being a pioneer in the inclusion of paralympic sport in university competitions.

At the end of the closing ceremony, the president of FISU America, Alim Maluf Neto, said: “With great emotion I want to leave my thanks to all the countries that have made our dream come true. We managed to unite the three Americas and make one of the greatest events in history. I also thank the president of the Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU), with whom it was possible to dream and perform these games. And finally, to the members of the Executive Committee who did not measure efforts to support and work in the event. We made history and that victory belongs to all of us. More and more we are one continent, one passion.”
