[:es]Un 11 de junio pero del año 2007, en Blumenau(BRA) comenzaba nuestra historia. Las organizaciones de Norte América, ODUCC (Organización Deportiva Universitaria de Centro América y el Caribe) y COSUD (Confederación Sudamericana Universitaria de Deporte) se unían bajo el nombre de ODUPA (Organización de Deporte Universitario PanAmericano) y allí nacía la federación que reuniría y cambiaría las vidas de miles de estudiantes-atletas, dirigentes y federaciones nacionales.
El 2015 no sería un año cualquiera, ya que la federación que reúne a los países del continente, pasaba a llamarse como lo hace actualmente, y cambia su nombre de ODUPA a FISU AMERICA.
Si algo caracteriza al deporte universitario en la región, es la ambición por seguir creciendo. Como muestra de las ganas de querer siempre más, en 2017 se organizaron eventos continentales como el 1° FISU AMERICA 3×3 en Buenos Aires, Argentina, el 1° FISU AMERICA Forum en Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela, el 1° Diálogo Estratégico y Congreso de Presidentes en Goiânia, Brasil, y se firmó el Memorándum de Entendimiento con FISU.
Una vez comenzado el camino de las competencias continentales, el deporte universitario en FISU AMERICA pedía una competencia que reuniera todas las disciplinas y fue así como se organizaron los 1° FISU AMERICA Games San Pablo 2018.
También en 2018 se organizaron los 2° FISU AMERICA 3×3 en Santa Tecla, El Salvador, y el 2° Foro de FISU AMERICA, celebrado en la Ciudad de México.
El pasado año, los eventos a nivel continental ya se hicieron una buena costumbre y tuvieron lugar tanto competencias internacionales como eventos dirigenciales y organizativos para el futuro del deporte universitario en América. Se organizó el 2° Diálogo Estratégico de FISU AMERICA en la ciudad de Bogotá Colombia; el 1° FISU AMERICA Futsal en Misiones, Argentina; el Consejo de Ministros de Deportes de América, y la CAGE reconoció a FISU AMERICA como la entidad de gestión de deporte universitario de América.
Este 2020 que cambió los planes del mundo presentó un nuevo desafío y FISU AMERICA decidió no quedarse quieta, organizando los 1° FISU AMERICA eSports FIFA20, como muestra de adaptación y constante cambio. Sin dudas que será el primero de muchos desafíos a tomar por la federación pero el movimiento del deporte universitario continua y FISU AMERICA se mantendrá a la expectativa para estar a la vanguardia.
Luego de mucho trabajo, tanto de federaciones nacionales como a nivel continental, FISU AMERICA sigue trabajando por el bien del deporte universitario en la región, sumando miembros a los distintos comités que tiene la FISU, siendo parte de las decisiones del deporte universitario a nivel mundial y buscando un mejor futuro para nuestra sociedad. Un deporte que de más oportunidades, que difunda los valores de la educación, la cooperación y el esfuerzo colectivo e individual, que invite a los jóvenes a ser mejores ciudadanos/as y personas, que luche por la igualdad y que siga buscando crecer y construir una sociedad más justa en donde todos puedan ser parte.

A characteristic of the university sports in our region, is the ambition of keep growing. As a prove of that fire in the continent that is constantly pushing for more, in 2017 many events were organized, like the 1st FISU AMERICA 3X3 in Buenos Aires, Argentina; the 1st FISU AMERICA Forum in Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela and the 1st Strategic Dialogue and Congress of Presidents in Goiânia, Brazil, also a Memorandum of Understanding with FISU, was signed.

Last year, the continental events became a healthy practice, for that reason, international competitions and also management events for the future of university sports in America were organized. The 2nd Strategic Dialogue of FISU AMERICA in Bogotá, Colombia; the 1st FISU AMERICA Futsal in Misiones, Argentina; and the Council of Minister of Sports, the 3rd FISU AMERICA 3×3 Maceió, Brazil and the CAGE recognized FISU AMERICA as managerial entity of university sports of America.
The 2020 changed the plans of the world, but FISU AMERICA transform this situation into an opportunity, organizing the 1st FISU AMERICA eSports FIFA20, as a proof of the adaptation and constant change. Without doubts, this was the first challenge of many to come, the federation will keep moving forward always trying to be at the forefront.
After a lot of work of the national federation and the continental, FISU AMERICA keep working for the sake of the university sports in the region, adding members to the different committees of the FISU, being part of the global decisions, looking for a better future of the society. Sports with more opportunities, spreading the values of education, cooperation, and collective and individual effort. Inviting the youth to be better citizens and human being, who fight for the equality and keep looking to build a better society, fairer and where all had the chance to be part of.
