[:es]Con la participación de 1200 atletas provenientes de 11 universidades públicas y privadas, este jueves 28 de marzo se inauguraron los XXIII Juegos Universitarios Costarricenses (Juncos 2019), que se llevarán a cabo en la sede del Instituto Tecnológico en Cartago. En las justas, que se extenderán hasta el sábado 6 de abril, se competirá en disciplinas como el ajedrez, atletismo, baloncesto, fútbol sala, fútbol, karate, natación, taekwondo, tenis de mesa y voleibol.
En la Inauguración estuvieron presentes: El ministro de Deportes de Costa Rica, Sr Hernán Solano, Don Julio Calvo, Rector del Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, El Señor Gerardo Corrales presidente de la Federación Universitaria de Costa Rica y la Señora Rosaura Mendez, miembro del Comité Ejecutivo de la FISU.
El objetivo de Juncos es buscar la confraternidad universitaria. No solo se viene en busca de venir por una medalla, los estudiantes también participan de una gran fiesta deportiva en un campus universitario que se ha preocupado por construir toda una nueva infraestructura deportiva que estará al servicio de la población universitaria.
El Rector del Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, manifestó su compromiso con el deporte universitario, el apoyo y la inversión debe ser en primera línea, todo lo que se invierta en deporte beneficiara a nuestros estudiantes y a la sociedad costarricense indico el ministro de deportes.
TEC estrena pista de atletismo
Además de reunir a los principales deportistas de las universidades costarricenses, los Juncos también son una oportunidad para mejorar la infraestructura deportiva de las instituciones. Un ejemplo en esta ocasión es la nueva pista de atletismo del Tecnológico, primera pista sintética de la provincia de Cartago, que representa una mejora que podrán aprovechar los atletas después de los Juegos. “El modelo de la pista es de tres estrellas. En términos generales podemos decir que es una pista clase B”, afirmó Marco Gamboa, ingeniero encargado del proyecto.
La pista también comprende zonas para pruebas de lanzamiento de disco, jabalina, martillo y bala. Además, para salto largo, salto triple, salto alto y pértiga. También hubo mejoras en el gimnasio (butacas, tableros, piso sintético, camerinos), piscina (graderías y vestidores), planché multiusos, cancha de fútbol (marcos, bancos e iluminación).

The goal of the city of Juncos is to fraternize with university sports. It´s not all about to get a medal, the students will participate in a sports celebration in a university campus, which was thought as an infrastructure to serve to our university population.
The principal of the Technological Institute of Costa Rica, declare his commitment with university sport. All the support and investment will be a benefit for our students and the Costa Rican society, said the sport minister.
TEC launch the athletics track
Besides to meet the main athletes in the Costa Rican universities, the Juncos are also an opportunity to improve the sport infrastructure of the institutions. A good example is the new athletics track of the Technological Institute, the first synthetic track in the province of Cartago, which will be able to be use for the athletes of this tournament. ‘This track model is three stars. In general terms we can say that is a B class track’, said Marco Gamboa, engineer in charge of the project.
The facility has place for discus, javelin and hammer throw, and shot put. Also, for long, triple, and high jump, and pole vault. More improves at the gym (benches, tables, synthetic floor, and locker rooms), in the swimming pool (steps and locker rooms), multipurpose room, and football field (goals, benches and illumination).
