[:es]Taipei está lista para recibir al evento deportivo más grande de su historia, al que arribarán más de 2.000 estudiantes/atletas, oficiales y entrenadores de todo el continente. Desde el momento de la elección como sede de la Universiada de Verano 2017, la participación pública y el crecimiento urbanístico que ha tenido la ciudad ha crecido. Y la llegada de 10.000 participantes de 170 países se espera como un movimiento de transformación social de la ciudad.
Los habitantes locales eligieron a “Bravo”, el Oso Negro Formoseño, endémico de esa región, como mascota de los juegos, en un proceso de votación por Internet.
Tras ser elegida como sede de la Universiada en 2011, Taipei reunió a 600 personas para trabajar en la competición, un esfuerzo con la esperanza de que el éxito genere oportunidades similares en el futuro.
Para el evento se requieren 79 estadios deportivos para entrenamiento y competición, por lo que aunque la mayoría de los escenarios están en Taipei y Nueva Taipei, también habrá actividad en localidades vecinas como Taoyuan, Hsinchu City, and Hsinchu County.
Desde esas ciudades también llegarán voluntarios, para alcanzar los 18.000 jóvenes que ayudarán, de los cuales 11.600 son estudiantes taiwaneses, 6.000 otros miembros de la comunidad local, y 300 voluntarios internacionales residentes de Taiwán.
Hay 39 hospitales al servicio de los juegos, ofreciendo servicios médicos, fisioterapia deportiva, e incluso tratamientos tradicionales de la medicina china, como acupuntura.
